Our Blog

We are a year 5/6 (9-10 year olds) class from Bairds Mainfreight Primary School in Auckland, NZ.

You can see some of our learning that took place in Room 12 in 2010 and 2011.

NB: I have moved to a new school now so this blog is no longer active. You are still welcome to comment and look at the great fun we had over the past two years.

Thank you for all the lovely comments :)

Soccer Balls - Where are they from?

In the weeks that I have been researching about soccer balls and how that there are more than 1/8 of the soccer balls in the world that are made by children! I have found that these children are forced to work at least 15 hour shifts every day for only 100 rupee.

100 Rupee is roughly around NZ$3.00. So these kids live on just 43 cents a day. With that money they could buy 2 lollipops.

These children haven't even been given an education and work from as young as 5 to 17.

More than 22,000 children injure themselves in work related accidents.
