Our Blog

We are a year 5/6 (9-10 year olds) class from Bairds Mainfreight Primary School in Auckland, NZ.

You can see some of our learning that took place in Room 12 in 2010 and 2011.

NB: I have moved to a new school now so this blog is no longer active. You are still welcome to comment and look at the great fun we had over the past two years.

Thank you for all the lovely comments :)

Easi-speak mics

We are so excited and lucky because our easi-speak mics arrived today. It is taking us a while to get used to them but we have found that they will help us to have better sound on our news. There are heaps of other things that we will be doing with them as well... If your school has done something cool with them please let us know!

Logan's Personal Writing

Vegez

By Logan

“Disgusting! Please don’t make me eat that!”.

Spat slip, little devils coloured orange, yellow and green. I quickly shoved the whole thing into my mouth. It tasted so yuck I almost vomited. I said I needed to go to the toilet. I ran quickly to the back door throwing the demon out of my mouth. As soon as I walked through the door my Mum said,

“How were your veges?”

I didn’t know what to do so I power-walked into the kitchen.

Six more little demons left to eat.

“I’m not finished yet…”

I was just sitting there looking at my food. I couldn’t stand it so I quickly ate it, chewing chewing. I suddenly swallowed it trying not to vomit.

“Finished!”

“How was it?” Mum said.

“It was delicious …”

Never Shake a baby

Today in Roots of Empathy we learned to Never Shake a Baby. Tanya showed us why by shaking an egg in a jar. We learned that a baby's brain is like the egg yolk. If you shake it, it gets damaged. By Emma

Room 12 News

22 Feb 2009

23 Feb 2009

Reflections:

Wiremu and Logan. Our voices were clear. We needed to manage ourselves better so that it made more sense.

Sarah and Julia. We wrote a good story. We need to speak louder.

Mele and Mereana. We think we need to speak louder. It was sad that there were people not listening propery in the background.

Siaga and Emma. Siaga had a good loud voice. We both need to look at the camera.
