Our Blog

We are a year 5/6 (9-10 year olds) class from Bairds Mainfreight Primary School in Auckland, NZ.

You can see some of our learning that took place in Room 12 in 2010 and 2011.

NB: I have moved to a new school now so this blog is no longer active. You are still welcome to comment and look at the great fun we had over the past two years.

Thank you for all the lovely comments :)

ANZAC biscuits

Today we made ANZAC biscuits because it is ANZAC day on Sunday. They had butter, coconut, rolled oats, golden syrup, baking soda, white sugar and flour.

In the wars the ANZAC soldiers got these biscuits from their families. They used these ingredients because they last long and it took A LONG TIME to get to them on the ships.

They tasted sweet, some tasted burnt and bitter but others tasted very good.

It was fun making them. It was exciting whan they caught fire in the microwave and we had to cook them outside.

Here is Conrad holding Mrs M-H's fathers war medals.

Here is our recipe.

News Changes

We are trying some changes to our news format.
We are using the digital camera so that we can work on our filming skills as well as our presentation skills. We need to consider new things such as backgrounds and camera angles. Here is out first attempt at our news programme without the webcam.
